Why Positive Partnerships?

The work with Positive Partnerships attracted me because I have a strong interest in facilitation. I love working with people and facilitation gives me an enormous amount of energy and satisfaction. I enjoy working with adult learners and look forward to making an impact on how they see autism and how best to work with families and children on the autism spectrum for the best outcomes. I have also had a long term interest in autism and, ironically, even before my son was diagnosed, it had been a focus of further study for me.

Being part of a team that is passionate about what they do is very important to me and the people working for Positive Partnerships are certainly that!!

Tell us about your previous roles

My background includes primary teaching and working in Catholic Education regional offices to support diverse learners in primary and secondary schools. I hold a Diploma of Teaching, Bachelor of Education and Masters in Special Education.

What inspires you to make a difference?

I'm inspired when I see change enacted from the workshops; that a school or community has taken on something themselves to make an embedded and sustainable change that supports families, children and teachers.

It is also rewarding when parents who come to a workshop, looking and feeling like they have the weight of the world on their shoulders, walk away having made a connection and smiling, feeling like they have a way forward and that they are not alone. I enjoy watching the transformation when some teachers come into our professional development with an incredible lack of understanding and feeling overwhelmed and overloaded, then seeing them lighten up, use the tools, take on a project and become fascinated by their students instead of frustrated.
